Updated / Modified

Purpose

See documents that were changed (not newly uploaded) within the date range you select on the dashboard, and open them from a sortable list.

The Updated / Modified overview card on the dashboard shows how many documents were modified in that range. Clicking the card opens the full Updated / Modified list.

Prerequisites

  • You are signed in to EisenVault One.
  • You have access to at least one department or folder where documents may appear.
  • You can open the Dashboard from the left navigation.

Before You Begin

The user dashboard has two related areas:

  • Overview cards — the row of metric cards at the top (including New Documents, Updated / Modified, Expiring Soon, and others). These cards show counts for your selected date range. Updated / Modified is an overview card, not one of the larger widgets below.
  • Widgets — panels such as Recent Activity, Bookmarks, and My Subscriptions in the lower section of the dashboard.

New Documents and Updated / Modified measure different activity:

  • New Documents counts files that were uploaded or created in the period.
  • Updated / Modified counts files that were changed in the period, such as renamed, given new metadata, recategorized, or given a new version. A brand-new upload does not increase Updated / Modified until the file is changed again.

Both cards use the same date range control on the dashboard. Change the range, then click Apply Filter. The list page uses the same range when you open it from the card.

If nothing was modified in the selected period, the card shows 0 and the list page shows No updates in this period.

View Updated / Modified from the Dashboard

  1. Open the left navigation and go to Dashboard.
  2. Set the date range you want to review using the date control above the Overview section, then click Apply Filter.
  3. In the Overview row, find the Updated / Modified card (green edit icon) and note the count.
  4. Click the Updated / Modified card to open the list for the same period.

Work with the Updated / Modified List

On the Updated / Modified page:

  1. Confirm the subtitle Documents modified in selected period matches the range you chose on the dashboard.
  2. Optionally open Filters to narrow the list by:
  3. Category Type
  4. Modified By
  5. Department (your organization may use a custom label for this field)
  6. File Type (for example pdf, docx, xlsx)
  7. Enter filter values and click Apply, or click Clear to remove filters.
  8. Use the column headers to sort by Item, Version, File Size, Document Category, Modified By, or Modified On.
  9. Click a document name to open a preview, or a folder name to open that folder in the document library. Items that were deleted since the change show a Deleted badge and cannot be opened.
  10. Use pagination at the bottom when more than one page of results exists (10 records per page by default).
  11. Click Back to return to the dashboard.

The overview card count is the number of distinct documents modified in the range. The list may show more than one row for the same file when several modifications occurred in that period.

See the Count Change After a Modification

Actions such as uploading a new version, renaming a file, or editing metadata update the Updated / Modified count when the dashboard date range includes the change time.

  1. On the Dashboard, set the date range (for example Today) and click Apply Filter. Note the Updated / Modified count.
  2. Open a document you can edit and make a change (for example Upload New Version or Edit Metadata).
  3. Return to Dashboard, keep the same date range, and click Apply Filter again. The count increases when the modification falls in that range.

Example Walkthrough

The screenshots below use a demonstration tenant. Names, email addresses, and file titles are redacted.

  1. On the Dashboard, the Updated / Modified overview card appears in the Overview row next to New Documents. With the default range (about the last 30 days), the count shows how many documents were modified in that period.

  3. Click the Updated / Modified card. EisenVault One opens the list for the same period. When modifications exist, the table lists file name, folder path, version, size, category, who modified the file, and when.

Expected Result

  • The Updated / Modified overview card shows the number of documents modified in the selected date range.
  • The Updated / Modified list shows modification details (or No updates in this period when the count is zero).
  • Sorting, filters, and pagination update the list without leaving the page.
  • Clicking an active document or folder opens it in EisenVault One.
  • Renaming, metadata edits, recategorization, and new versions can increase the count when they occur inside the selected range.
  • Back returns you to the dashboard with your date range unchanged.
